Custom visuals are components that extend the visualization capabilities of Power BI. They provide advanced features not available in built-in visuals.
Free OKVIZ visuals are certified by Microsoft and available on AppSource.
Paid OKVIZ visuals purchased from our website are not certified because they need to connect to our licensing system to verify the licenses, but we usually also offer certified visuals on AppSource with some limitations.
A few features are only available with certified custom visuals, like exporting to PowerPoint and displaying the custom visual in emails received as part of a user subscription to a report page.
Yes, you can embed Power BI reports that include OKVIZ visuals in SharePoint, within the licensing terms of your subscription.
Yes, you can publicly share Power BI reports that include OKVIZ visuals, if the report is freely accessible and hosted on powerbi.com. Only the Power BI users using the report must be licensed. You do not need a license for users using a public report.
Once you install the visual in the Organizational Visuals store (Org Store), all the users within the company can use the licensed visuals without entering a license key. Moreover, any update made to the visual in the Organizational Custom Visuals repository automatically updates the visuals in all the reports using it.
No, our visuals are currently only available in English. However, most of the messages displayed in the report can be customizable.
OKVIZ licensing works on a subscription basis. You can choose between a monthly or yearly subscription. The subscription includes access to the visual, updates, and premium support.
Yes, you can try our visuals for free before purchasing it for 1 month. The trial version is fully functional and includes all the features of the paid version. The only limitation is that the trial version is watermarked.
Note that you can try a specific visual only once within your organization or personal account.
Yes, you can choose to get our visuals from AppSource. However, the licensing model for paid visuals is different, and the visuals may have fewer features than the visuals purchased from our website.
No, the two licensing models are incompatible. You need to purchase a new license from the OKVIZ website and cancel the subscription on AppSource.
We consider "user" any person who uses the visual in a report, either by creating the report or by viewing it. The number of users is limited by the number of licenses you have.
Example: If you have 1 report designer and 10 report viewers, you need a license tier that covers 11 users.
The per-site licensing is available when using the licensed visual in a Power BI Embedded environment. The licensing cost is per-site and the visual cannot be used in a regular Power BI report published on Power BI Report Server or on Power BI Service (powerbi.com).
You can choose whatever is more convenient between a per-user license and a pre-node license. If you choose a user license, you need a tier that includes all the users that access one or more Power BI Report Server instance. If you choose a server license, you need a node license for each server running Power BI Report Server.
Yes, you can use a licensed OKVIZ custom visual in a report published through Power BI Embedded. However, you can save money on licensing by getting a per-site license if it is less expensive.
No, the license follows a subscription-based model. Custom visuals require updates to keep the visuals up-to-date in the Power BI platform. Therefore, continuous maintenance is required to guarantee product quality and support.
After a subscription expires, you can still use the visual for a short period of time (Grace Period) during which a warning will be displayed in the visual. After the Grace Period, the visual will be disabled, and you will need to renew your subscription to continue using it.
However, you can still access the reports and replace the visual with other visuals available in Power BI.
You can share your licensed visual with other users within the same organization as long as the number of users does not exceed the number of licenses you have. If you need to share the visual with more users, you can purchase additional licenses.
Yes, you can pay by bank/wire transfer, but only over a certain amount. This payment method will be unlocked automatically at the checkout when the amount exceeds the threshold.
Yes, you can cancel the subscription at any time. When you cancel a subscription, it will still be active until the end of the period you already paid.
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any point in time.
When upgrading, you will pay the prorated difference between the two plans for the remaining duration of the current billing cycle. If you downgrade, you will receive a time extension to compensate for any potential credit appropriately.
Yes, you can change your billing frequency whenever it suits you. If you decide to switch your billing frequency, your subscription will restart at the time of the change, and you will be charged for the first new billing cycle.

No, we don't send any data from your reports to third-party services. We only connect to our servers to validate the license and to check for updates.
We only collect the billing information to sell our products and services: company name, address, contact name, and email. Such information is stored in the United States using Microsoft Azure's cloud services as OKVIZ is a US company. If you pay by credit card, part of this information is shared with Stripe, which processes the credit card transaction. If you pay by using PayPal, part of this information is shared with PayPal. We do not collect any additional information, and we do not share the information we collect.
A "region" refers to the geographical location where your license data (e.g. Synoptic Panel's My Storage maps) is stored and processed. When you purchase a license, a region is assigned to you based on your billing country. This allows you to comply with regional data protection regulations and ensures your data remains within a specific geographic area.

Yes, your data is safe!
We guarantee that your data is stored securely and processed in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other data protection regulations. We use Microsoft Azure's cloud services to store and process your data, ensuring it remains secure and protected.
Moreover, you can decide to encrypt your data before uploading it to My Storage. This way, only you can access it.
Deleting your data from the My Storage is straightforward, ensuring you have control over your data. When you decide to delete your account, rest assured that all associated data will be promptly removed.

Bugs
If the bug can be fixed within the OKVIZ visual’s code, we typically release a new version within 5 business days. However, if the issue depends on external services beyond OKVIZ’s control, we will make our best effort to find a workaround but cannot guarantee a timely resolution.
If you purchased the visual from AppSource, you will also need to account for the AppSource deployment process, which may take 2 to 3 weeks, depending on whether the visual is certified.
Regressions
If there is a regression with a new version of a custom visual, customers with an active paid subscription have access to a private area where the latest three (3) previous versions of their licensed OKVIZ visuals are available.
If you installed the visual from AppSource, the process takes longer because OKVIZ must request Microsoft support to roll back the visual to the previous version. This process typically takes around a week.
A regression is a previously fixed issue or working feature that breaks due to new changes in the code.
